well if apple is going to rely on sony for bluray then they will have to wait cuz sony is gonna use them all up on the PS3

These new features sound awesome, especially the ability to resize a text box. Also the imroved search functionality will be a god send for me, as I use it very much.

I have a Subaru myself, and while their interiors are pretty average at best, they are mechanically very reliable in my experience. Not as boring as a Camry either, though (apart from the turbo models) they aren't "performance" cars either, but more like SUV substitutes.
In the end it was just how fun the Cabrio was fun to drive that made me jump to the New Beetle. Reliability was the reason I dumped my New Beetle... made in Mexico. While the ex's Cabrio was made in Germany with no major problems. Go figure....
There is plenty of anecdotal evidence I've come accross indicating that the German-made VWs hold up quite a bit better than the Mexican-sourced models. I don't have any "official" info on whether that is true though.
I suppose reliability is one thing that might improve in the new models.

In the OP I laid out a series of reasons why the death penalty should be abandoned, and have only addressed one or two of them, and unconvincingly at that. Why does Apple need my phone number? I just want to buy and use their products? I also expect to have a continuing long-term relationship with them, that includes person-to-person services in addition to sale of products. So for me it comes down to "who do you trust?" Apple has, historically, been very good about not subscribing me to mailings I don't want. You don't need to know a year ahead of Apple's product launch dates to run your business. There are lots of professionals using 5 year old software to get their millions of dollars of worth work done. I like software upgrades as much as the next guy, but just because it's cool to install new stuff, not that I'll be able to do much more than I can do right now with the new software.Big business will turn over machines every 2 years wether they need it or not. They have to budget for new equipment so they need to know what is down the pipeline.

If you want to compare iOS to Android then you have to include iPod Touches and iPads. They all run iOS and can basically run the same set of iPhone/iPod Touch or universal apps. It is not Apple's problem that almost nobody is making a non-phone android device in the same form factor as the iPod Touch. It is also not Apple's problem that Android tablets have been a flop.
If you are developer on iOS, you can target iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads with the same app if you choose so they can be consider one platform as far as universal apps are concerned.

We’re an engineering-driven company. When people accuse us of things, the first thing we want to do is find out the truth. That took a certain amount of time to track all of these things down. And the accusations were coming day by day. By the time we had figured this all out, it took a few days.
As someone who has to track down things like this constantly, I'm pretty unimpressed at the (lack of) speed of their code checking. This was not an obscure bug or complicated. It was just a too-large buffer definition and an execution path that always downloaded info.
And people think Apple can check binary app store submissions for bugs or trojans in just a few minutes, when they can't even find their own bugs in a few days with commented source code.
Then writing it up and trying to make it intelligible when this is a very high-tech topic took a few days.
Again unimpressed. There've been accurate explanations posted here before Apple spoke up, that took just minutes to compose.
And here we are less than a week later.
Although I've defended Apple over and over again on this topic, this just smacks of hoping it would blow over.
The right thing to do would've been to immediately say a week ago, "we're looking into it".

When oh when are they going to update that insanely arcane iCal "feature" on .Mac. Why isn't it easy to access my calendars from my .Mac homepage? And WHY can't I ADD an event from .Mac. So frustrating.
Amen on that. It's frustrating that a lot of .mac has been ignored for the past few years. It seemed like that service was improved more often back when it was free. I don't get it.
