dont bother with Tempest, I d/l'd for ipad 2 and the graphics are horrible. very dissapointing.

There are 2 versions: the console version and the arcade machine version.
    The console one is terrible.

I'm sure this data will be coming to a Keynote near you.

The trend is your friend, and unless Apple can turn it around, the trend is clearly moving toward a marginalization of iOS.

hey FOW back on track!.. Apple's about to fall; profits are down, market-share falling, iPad's left in stores, share price collapsing.... you saw it all first!

Not a whole lot of effort lately. I haven't felt like customizing anything; I think it's all stock icons, too.

Good news everyone!!! You guys remember the connecticut home invasion where Dr. William Petit, his two daughters and wife were brutally attacked in their home, and the daughters and wife were tortured, raped and murdered? Well, the trial for the second suspect is going on today, and he's probably getting the death penalty!! The first suspect, steven hayes, was already sentenced to death a few months back. CHEERS!!! :D:D:D I'm so glad connecticut is one of the sane states that has a death penalty. Unfortunately my state was the first to ban it in 2007. I would say go for a good old fashioned lynching.

I referred to this case in the human versus animal value thread when a few posters said that any human life has more value than any animal. They would save the life of either of these guys over any animal.

    I've got a thought...

You've probably already been slapped about this but I haven't read through all the posts...

Dude... I'm assuming you're a Christian to be so up-in-arms about the holiday (but I don't think that's the right example, honestly) -- you need to also be more tolerant of other religious holidays at the same time such as Hananachaka (butchered that) and Kwanza as well as some others, I'd imagine.

Wonder what price they will be by christmas (i bloody hate the term 'the holiday season'!!) anyone any thoughts?

    Let the battle commence!

Well you know, everyones got to do a little bit of kissing up now and then  ;) :D

Well at least you didn't do one of those tacky pics. :D

Honestly I would have been flattered if asked. But like LBJ, if nominated I would not run, if elected I would not serve (at least at this point). For as evident by my posts over the past few days, my new job and new outlook as to what I find important has changed. In the end I think that active members like myself also serve a purpose, as much as those that are in a mod status.

I am glad that we have a couple EU members as mods in some degree.

Not gettin' it: people are afraid of THE GOVERNMENT getting the data, through whatever means. Most people don't give 2 craps about specifically Apple having the data.

@fivepoint- How about showing a little respect for the viewers of this thread and use TIMG tags on your images?

    Don't you know?

That is the visual representation of "Bombast Baffles Brains".

I have an old hard drive with windows xp, and I was wondering if I could do a boot camp from this hard drive? I have a USB connector for it too. I see lots of threads talking about using an external hard drive, but I thought this was a little different. I also have the old laptop parts too in case they are needed.

I really liked this one. I've tried many other apps that gather the Album Cover art for iTunes songs/albums but this is the best by far.

    It's called Clutter (http://www.sprote.com/clutter/).

Launch Clutter when you have iTunes open. As a song is playing, Clutter automatically looks up the album art. Once found, under the File menu select copy to iTunes and BAM, it's there for the WhOLE album. Sweet.

One note. If it doesn't find the art, just go under the File menu and choose "Find cover in Amazon". Just type in different variations of the artist or song and i'm sure it'll pop up.

    Enjoy,
    ~e

wow what a cool programme! thanks for that link!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Leopard ship at Macworld, to beat Vista to the stores and undercut them once more. Will Jobs do it?

    1) Yes, Apple doesn't care.

    2) Yes, Apple doesn't care.

    Think?

Apple only cares about the bottom line, they've gone from the company that bragged they were anti-establishment, to who they are today.

The mainstream, fancy retail store building, we'll screw you at every chance, company.

I'm NOT bashing Apple, it simply is what it is. Corporate America.

    There's nothing wrong with that.

Macclaptrap is a troll here to bash apple. Look at his posting history which began April 8.

maybe because, often, it's not even an issue ... until the media makes it an issue.

    P.

....because Apple says nothing and allows it to fester.

    One of the patents:
Mobile telephone capable of displaying world time and method for controlling the same

An apparatus and method for calculating and displaying local time for a plurality of cities in the world. The apparatus includes a memory for storing Greenwich mean time (GMT) information for each of the plurality of cities. The apparatus sets a reference time and counts the time that elapses from when the reference time is set. The apparatus calculates a local time of a city selected by a user, which is based on a difference between the GMT of the selected city and the GMT of a present location of the apparatus, the reference time and the counted elapsed time. The reference time may be either a time set by the user or a system time acquired from a signal generated from a remote system.
How can companies get patents for such trivial algorithms???

This surely has been covered by other manufacturers years before Samsung ever started making devices? What about the Newton? Seems a bit of a weak claim and surprising that they would have been granted a patent.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between morality and reality in this thread. Let me give a real life experience as example and comparison....
I don't have all the details, so I won't comment further on this unfortunate rape and please don't misinterpret that I am saying theft compares to rape. My point is that each of us can take steps to protect ourselves. Will taking these steps guarantee our safety, no, but they can certainly minimize risk.

I agree, but there's a vast difference between trying to 'minimize risk' and the post below:

...If a man sees a woman with a low top, lots of cleavage showing, high skirts and heels, then he will view her as trash.....

Which acts as a kind of justification.

Your comparison isn't apt. If you're wearing gold chains and bracelets and hundred dollar bills sticking out of your pockets, yes it would increase your chances of being mugged.

I would argue that flashing cash is worse in terms of risk than wearing a suit, but that depends on the neighborhood and the suit. A well-dressed Wall Street-type in a chicano neighborhood is running a higher risk than the vato with a thick bank roll. However, Gelfin's comparison remains, as Lord Blackadder noted, apt.

Neither man deserves to be robbed and moreover no one will try to argue some mitigating circumstances for the attacker. However, in rape cases, the woman's behavior can become part of an argument to remove some guilt from the attacker.

The defense for rapists is wholly different than the defense for robbers because the first tries to envelop the victim as some kind of co-conspirator with the accused.

Not much. If T.J. Maxx or other outfits or private individuals buy any product at retail price, they own it. Under Federal Trade Law, there are very little resale restrictions. Also, you can sell it for any price your want, that is as a profit or a loss. T. J. Maxx did a classic loss lead to get traffic into their stores from the iPad "sale." I say it is legal IMO.

There is nothing illegal in what TJ Maxx did. They paid a price for the item and sold it. There is nothing that stops them from selling things at a loss, and it gets people in their stores. The rumor is they bought 2 ipads for each store, sold them at a loss of 100.00 each, but created a huge advertising buzz and got people in their stores. It is actually pretty brilliant and not very costly. Now if they would only do it with generation 2...
