How old are some of you people anyway?
I mean, what kind of person goes around wondering whether other people think he has an Iphone or an Ipod touch?
Get a life or grow up, or both!
They are obviously young people and that's what young people do.
Get a grip man !! don't tell people what they should or shouldn't be doing because it doesn't conform with your world view. . .

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. He ended up getting a base 15" MBP and got the optibay. He's a professional photographer and said he needed the space (both hd and screen). He loves his setup.
They did have the hi-res antiglare in stock, but not all stores do
Personally though- if you're just using aperture and final cut express a bit, and don't mind an external- I'd say wait for the 13" MBA to get updated.
They're amazing, especially if you're gonna be traveling a lot.

Well there is the superduper new sync system that was rumoured but hasn't been seen yet. But only the developer facing parts of the new system need to be in place for the preview/beta.
So if Versions/Autosave allows for incremental saves so only the changes are saved to disk each time. Then those would make for very small packets to be synced between devices. Which could make a lightweight syncing system, that could be announced last minute, as developer just need to make sure they are working with the first two bits.
Although WWDC will be the last event before summer release so you'd expect all major features to be announced then and the full 150+ features detailed on the website then with a firm release day.

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:
http://www.infoq.com/news/2010/10/apple-deprecates-java
Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.
I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?
More importantly, is Java going to die on OS X? If OpenJDK or Soylatte don't pick it up then is all lost?

It might not work at all but it would still look damn cool.

Maybe, I've never gone to MacWorld even though I live in San Jose. Only hurdle for me would be taking a day off of work, although i've got plenty of vacation time. Not much of a drinker myself, and not too familiar with SF. Last time I went to meet-up with some people in SF, we ended up in a "massage" parlor.:o:D

552,139 points sounds about right if your overclocked to 10.3ghz but if not then something is wrong :p
Anyways. Try and do a slight overclock to 3.5-8ghz and you'll be finishing bigadvs in no time. You need to fully complete 10 bigadv WUs to start getting their bonus. You will get 75k + points when you complete it. I get closely 90k points when I complete one, which is around 55k PPD.
Don't be afraid to OC, the 920s are the best and you can probably get close to 4ghz on air. See how far you can go on stock voltages. I got a really good chip as I'm at 4.2ghz @1.26v and it's 24/7 folding stable. Lower volts = lower temps and vice versa.

Scientists have warned that a really big solar eruption could destroy satellites and wreck power and communications grids around the globe if it happened today.
lol we're so insignificant. Our tiny little planet's power and communications grids can be destroyed by the sun farting.

Is that done just by going to accounts, unlocking the lock, right clicking the name and selecting the home folder -- and I presume just making sure it's the same folder that is selected for SL?
System Preferences > Accounts > Click the lock and type your password > Right-click the user and select "Advanced Options..." > Home directory
You just select the same folder as in SL. If your username is Steve, then it would be Macintosh HD/Users/Steve, assuming Macintosh HD is the volume where SL is installed.
Also, given my setup (SSD booting and running SL with my apps) what is the best way to install Lion? I have the dmg. file, so what would I do to make sure I don't wipe out my SSD situation?
Create a new partition to the HD (e.g. Mac OS X Lion) and when installing Lion, it will ask you where do you want to install it. Select the volume you just created and that's it. You don't need to boot from the DMG, just open it while running SL

Firt find the specs for your USB turntable. If it is only doin 44K and 16-bits there is no point saving as 24-bits and 96K. Save the data at the naticve bit depth and sample rate.
As for format, any lossless format will do as will uncompressed WAV. Save your archive that way but you may wantothe compress to ssmall files for use with iTunes and your iPod.
PS.
I always wonder how they sell these USB turn tables. I would have thought that anyone who has vinyl records would already own a turn table and would simply use that connected to the audio input on the Mac.
Thanks. How exactly do I find the specs for the turntable? Is there something on the computer that can tell me it?
I did call ion up and they recommend 44k and 16bit so I guess thats the specs.
Well I do own an old pioneer turntable but I saw this one day on woot and just decided to get it. Ive questioned my purchase a few times since then but I at least want to try it out.

Could you use ScreenFlow (demo) or QT X to screen capture the process and upload it to some file sharing service like Dropbox, 2Shared or MediaFire?

Don't buy AppleCare on eBay unless you can get the box.
Even that is not good anymore since Apple may ask for proof of purchase and a receipt from eBay auction is not accepted. Amazon is a good place if you are looking for cheap, yet legit AC.

Somehow its just doesn't sound like a good name for a laptop. Maybe the whole "There's something in the air" is relevant to the [insert feeling here] there is going to be after a new product(s) is/are presented. My thoughts only.Im still anxious to see what EL Jobso has for us fanboys!
