I just received all the receipts for I-140/I-485/I765/I-131 from TSC.
As some stupid questions:
- I noticed a number above my name: A0xx xxx xxx. Is this an alien number?
- If so please someone explain since I have my PD on 04/24/2001 I never noticed this number (I might be wrong). It is something good or bad or what this number mean?
- Also, just to have an idea, after all are approved (hopefully without unexpected delays) how long until I have that plastic card GC in my hand?
- any small clue will be greatly appreciated.

alright fresh from this incident. my mother had 10 yr tourist visa expiring in 3 months after her travel date. in the old days it was recommended that you have at least 6 month visa validity when entering US for immigration purposes. Following that guideline she applied for a new tourist visa of course referring the current one on passport. While during her interview they didn't ask her any questions and told her that its a go. Her application got stuck in security verification which triggered due to the fact that she already had a valid visa. Upon researching further I found out you are safe to travel even a day before your visa is expiring because once you enter the country your stay is based on I-94 validity and not your visa. Hope this helps.

EB5 investor Visa is already in place.
The numbers are a little different ($500,000 to $1M) but you can buy yourself a GC pretty quickly.
If I am not wrong.....I had checked on the EB5 retrogression some time back..

I have read many threads that discusses the pros and cons of using EAD over H1 and the common benefit that everyone mentions is that the salary is usually better for a person on an EAD. I spoke to several people who've started using their EAD and realized that even though it opened up opportunities with companies that do not have a policy of sponsoring H1, it DID NOT give them a boost in the salary.
My question is how do people intend to leverage on having an EAD for a higher salary?

Yes , as you are the one negotiating the deal (rate) on W2 or PERM with future employer and removing the agency ( your original H1B sponsoring compnay) between you and client, you should able to get better rate/salary. Again all depends on location, your experience and technology you are in.

My first term on H1 expired on June 2002. I revalidated it and the second term also got expired as of June 2004. Since I was in US only for 3 years on that H1, is it possible to revalidate it again now, even I'm not working for company A now? Company A can file for revalidation for recapturing the remaining time on H1 but you may to work with them once the H1B's gets approved..

Point is not wikipedia or other site. They should be relying on information provided in proper legal format and not on some internet based site. Example if some one is working for Microsoft and if I google the keywords I might get some website which says how MS products are bad and how Bill Gates has stolen technology from XEROX etc. Which is all nonsense and no way concerns with the application in hand's of the IO. So they have the liberty to ask for more information where ever they need but they should not prejudice themselves by reading internet based information.

I'm not at all surprised if USCIS call center people give conflicting information. When I called they asked me to file in Texas but gave me wrong P.O. Box number and wrong zip code.
In the EAD/AP filing instructions form in the USCIS website, it is clearly mentioned that we have to file EAD/AP as per the state we live in and not as per where our I-485 is present.
As my lawyer also told the same thing, I went ahead and sent my application to Texas service center. (I wasted 2 weeks in this dilemma though!) I'm kind of hoping that if I get a query or something later, I can say that I followed instructions at USCIS website.
I would say get in touch with your companies lawyer one time. Also call USCIS service center one more time and see what they will say this time. :-)

I believe the consulates aborad depend on the information on the internet.
Some times they try to verify the information of the company such as the kind of business the company is into that the applicant is talking by doing a google search. It happened at one of my interviews..
They do all on the fly when the interview is happening. I could see the interviewer typing Google and then the name of the company..
I just saw this in latest Murthy bulletin about USCIS using Wikipedia and other internet based sources to gather information. This is serious news.
RFEs or Denials May Not Be Based on Wikipedia Information
The USCIS has been known to use an ever-growing number of publicly available sources, including internet sources such as Wikipedia. AILA members have been receiving denials based on the USCIS's use of information found on Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia to which anyone in the world may contribute information. As such, it should not be considered an objective or completely reliable source of information. SCOPS advised that it has notified the service centers and there should not be additional RFEs or denials based upon Wikipedia.
It should be noted that, as a corollary, applicants and petitioners should not try to use Wikipedia as support for their filings or arguments, since it has been deemed an unreliable source.
