Our immigration doctor, as a std. practice, don't do TB test during pregnancy. That's the reason we didn't do TB test for her during July 2007 fiasco.

Even while we all suffer due to the retrogression, most of which is out of our control, I believe we can still remain positive in areas over which we do have control, like our sense of humor and ability to get along with everyone by agreeing to disagree in a civil manner. Unfortunately this forum of so called "highly skilled" sorely lacks it. Every disagreement/debate becomes personal and quickly dissolves into a shouting match. It's really sad. We need to learn to be happy for others who are more fortunate and sympathize with others who are less fortunate. We don't have to be highly skilled to be that...just human.

ICICI can not predict rather no one can predict what will be the exchange rate tomorrow. The minimum forex transaction at dealer level is for $1 mil. So, they can't promise you some rate the moment you hit the submit button. They will pool all the transactions like yours and then do a big contract together. ICICI provides lot of other services which SBI will not in terms of convenience. And ICICI deals big time in forex transactions. In this market the guy with biggest transactions will have lowest cost and depending on competition will have incentive to pass it on to you as an end user. They might time it within a particular time frame but that is something unavoidable.

I agree. Atleast word "Legal" was spoken. I am confident Democrats are well aware and once they come in power they are gonna clear all mess. These all artificial backlogs could not have been created until asked for by some one with political clout. USCIS is just a puppet. Our cause of problem lies somewhere else.
I hope Republicans don't come to power again.
We have to keep doing this... Senetor Obama mentioned 1 line about fixing Legal Immigration process, also both Senators mentioned that ILegal Immigrants will be last in the line of the process so that is a huge progress for us... These candidates have an army of people working for them, they do a lot of research go to forums, go to debate websites to see what are the pain-points, if we can get our questions in top 10 in every debate now on then Legal immigration will be in the spot light, that is half the battle won... regardless who is chosen by voters they will all have legal immigration on their agenda. Good job guys! Keep posting the questions we will make this issue popular!

indian outsourcers have not intrerest in GC- why should they? After GC they lose their stranglehold on the employees...all they want is more H1Bs...
And on this issue too (h1B), they may actually end up hurting themselves, given the current climate in the US. Its too bad (and really unfair) that our issues are usually linked with the H1B issue...:(

Lately the members of IV have come to know that Aman Kapoor, the co-founder of IV has sold his house and spent around $64000/- towards the administrative costs of IV. This too was brought to our attention from a regular member like you and me, without which this would not have come to our knowledge at all.
So some of the members have taken an initiative to reimburse Aman and other core IV team members with the expenses they have incurred so far towards the administrative costs of IV. Note that the time they have spent and the sufferings cannot be compensated. Let us do the least by atleast compensating the money. Please do not donate directly to IV funds.
There is a funding drive in this other thread towards reimbursing the administrative costs of IV.

GC is not just Aman's/ pappu/logiclife and others core member's dream...its OUR dream, and its not fair that in spite of knowing the time and money spent by the core members we donot share the burden.
So here is what I am thinking, there are 21000+ members of which I think 10,000 can be considered the real people (I am sure there are more..but a real conservative estimate) if we all pitch in $10 for administrative cost I think it would not put any dent in our pockets and this collective effort would not create a financial burden on any of the core members.
Even though IV is not for profit, there is no rule which says that you cannot have funds for administrative cost. In fact one rule of thumb to give to any NOP charitable organization like united way etc is to look at their admin cost. Why not IV have that.
Any thoughts!
