I'm from the UK, where capital punishement was abolished in 1969. Here in the UK we would love capital punishement to be reintroduced, a life for a life as they say. But it makes me wonder how someone can play god. Of course people who have murdered other people are kind of playing God, but in most cases, these attacks are not pre-planned, and really messy. Most murders are in defence or panic, also a lot of pre-planned. But someone playing God, deciding who lives and dies, I think it's kind of crazy sometimes. How can anyone be allowed to play god, how can 1 human, or 12 humans decide if another human dies in a controlled way. But I do agree that if you take a life, your life should be taken. But it still makes me think lots about it, I was in really deep thought about it a few nights ago. Here in the UK the law is fail, 2 years for killing someone. No common sense here in the UK.

I was always under the impression that it was Avie Tevanian that was the brains behind NeXT and OS X, even though he left Apple in 2006.

I just associated each one to an app and memorized it. They are slightly modified versions of these icons here (http://davidchen.deviantart.com/art/Etom-Project-White-65264754).
Do you have a hi-res version of that Yvonne Strahovsky wallpaper?

You can use backgrounder to disable multitasking. In Global Settings, set "Enable at Launch" to "off," and all apps should quit when you press the home button, except those configured to do otherwise in the Overrides section.

Well said. Maybe its time freeware communities such as OpenOffice make a HUGE push of functionality, portability, efficiency, and ability to work with Active Directory & Such to challenge MS.
I've talked to an Opensource Guru, and he says that about 30% of AD updates are designed to foil Samba compatibility.

Hey,
I do alot of work in After Effects and when searching "After Effects" in Finder I noticed an application called "mocha for After Effects". Their site said they were something about motion graphics, but I didn't buy or download it. Can I have some clarification on what it is and how I have it? I'm a pretty tech-savvy producer, just look at my sig, but I am at a loss.

The title of this thread made me think there was an origami competition. :)
Anyway, I just joined the MacRumors team.
thanks for joining our team! let us know if you have any questions. just start a new thread and someone will try and help you. that i7 you have will fold great, and it is a good cause.
as for my folding output, i'm in the process of moving (first time home buyer!) and probably won't have much output in the next week.

This is why carrier competition is important. The T-Mobile deal needs to be struck down by regulators.

I have always been curious as to how automator works, but have never really had a need to use it until now. What I would like to accomplish is to setup a workflow where as soon as a file gets put into a folder (music, photos, movies, etc) the automator would then automatically connect to my WDTV Live Hub and send the files.
Is this possible and if so, would anyone be willing to offer some assistance?
Thanks a lot in advance.

How do we do that? They are a shadow organization bound by religious or political ideals with no true ties to any nation.
As a result there is no nation that we could go to war with or otherwise hold accountable for their actions.
What I mean is that people captured as part of the "war on terrorism" should be treat as you would treat prisoners of war and should not be tortured under any circumstances.
I tend to disagree with the saying of "ends don't justify the means".
As for your last example, medical testing is a completely different scenario. In the torture case, you are doing it to someone who is part of the terrorist/criminal activity. They are already part of a criminal act, they already broke the law and they are planning in breaking it again to kill/damage more people.
People with medical conditions haven't done anything wrong.
How do you define a criminal act?
Are the terrorists captured during firefights with US soldiers criminals or soldiers, and why?
If North Korea launched a missile against the USA tomorrow, is that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
If Al Qaeda launched a missile against the USA tomorrow, is that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
When the USA dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WW2, was that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
When the Allied forces raised Dresden to the ground in WW2, was that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
Irrespective of if they are criminals or not in the truest sense of the world, it's no more justified to torture criminals than it is prisoners of war.
If you justify torture to prevent death of innocent people, where do you draw the line? 1,000 people, 100 people, 1 person?
What if the person you are torturing is innocent? What if your torture helps the terrorists recruit more terrorists and the result is more, not less, bloodshed?

A surprising, but welcome, twist.
I thought it was the frigid version of your floor-hockey league. ;)
No- totally different group of people. Great bunch of guys.
That's actually very surprising (in a good way). People usually aren't as sensitive to that word as they are with the N word, especially straight people.
That was the thing that clinched it for me. When they told me that story, I knew I had found some good people.
May I use that as my signature? :p
Yep. ;)
