The above part of your submission is not true. If you read the I-485 Adjudicator's Manual, you will find that the file is already opened and input into the system at this stage. Otherwise dwhuser would not have received I-797 Notice of Action.
In theory action on a case should be sequenced by priority date and then received date within the priority date batch. However, nobody knows for sure how USCIS works each case.

I don't realize why should anyone blame cableching...??
It seems to me that he just shared the information that he got and the way he understood. Would anyone else have done it any differently?
I dont think it really matters whether they have used up all visas now vs at the end of sept. Because, there were "X" number of visas to be given out and so "X" number of applicants would be chosen randomly (USCIS Lottery style..:p) and that happend...
If at all, this is a good news, that they actually finished this lottery process and so nothing will go to waste...(It would be too bad if california Lotto comes out with a winner number ticket that does not belong to anyone!!!)
And, we will never know whether this news is true or it is a misunderstanding on the part of cableching or the IO lady. (I personally dont think either of them are lying...but it could be a misunderstanding, especially with regard to category EB3 vs EB2). Regardless whether it is ture or a misunderstanding, we will see approvals coming through over next several months. (Just like what happened in June 07). So it is quilte likely that many of the waiting people would get their GCs if their names is picked up in the lottery!! So good luck to all...

2) We now have atleast 2 more NATIONAL publications who have taken notice of our activities and are more sympathetic to our causes. They feel we have a compelling story and they are interested in publishing about our plight...
In fact two IV members are being interviewed today by a leading publication.

3) We got additional material to provide to senators and their staff...this really helps as we do not have to establish ourselves....our stories along with newspaper articles help make our case much stronger....
When we initially started meeting senators, their staff would ask QGA 'Immigration Voice, who or what is that?'
Lately when we go to meet them, most of the staff have already visited our sites multiple times, know about us because of phone calls and faxes by members and ofcourse the articles that have been published....on top of this when we provide stories of members from their constituency, 50% of our work is already achieved....the liason team and QGA take over from there.
So to answer your question, yes it helped a lot

Now i dont know if that will have adverse consequences, but if it wont then we shud publish more such info on the site. There are only a handful who are active. EB3's are screwed so bad that they have resigned to fate or comtemplating using AC 21 and reapplying in EB 2. i have tired pointing it out to many that EB 3 as a whole is in the same boat, few care and the July filers are happy in the land of EAD/AP.
Some people like me who really love what they do and dont prefer changing jobs have reached a point where they are begining to think if it is all even worth the wait. You will not find a sleeping giant, rather a depressed giant overrun by a bunch of koolaid drinkers.

On the lighter note, if I were a judge, here's what I would do with Sheriff Joe if he was trailed:

How can an IO be ignorant of the infamous july fiasco ?
good idea...IV should write this to Ombudsman.
We should also get a survey/feedback form from the IO for AOS interviews, POE etc so we can send the feedback to USCIS. The form should include date, time , IO name etc and survey questions...Only then USCIS can improve their service.
