I can go to View --> Organize Alphabetically on my SL MBA. Same result. All icons, no categories.

I've never seen this before, but it's not new to this Lion build.

Sorry, I may have never used that before.

    Thanks for letting me know.

That's 7pm here in the UK... Just when I get home from work! :)

Are any sites offering live feeds, etc?

Macrumorslive.com does text feeds (the whole site shuts down, although at WWDC this year was the first time I've been able to access the forums the entire time, and the front page auto-refreshes every 60 seconds) from the event. They're not there but the feeds come from people who are.

We'll be well informed, don't worry.

See, loaded. You're warping what I'm saying so you can brush me off and continue to scapegoat gizmodo for something completely separate.

    Think about this.

Did I ever say gizmodo probably wasn't going to get banned?

Did I actually say the opposite?

Did I bring up Wired anywhere in this thread or link them to various pranks?

Was I actually trying to make you look at the statement that implied blind faith in print media as being a bastion of truth and being isolated from such pranking?

Wait...how am I scapegoating Gizmodo? I was questioning your statement:

I did have something to add, my opinion, which I am more than entitled to state just as much as you do.

That's nice. IMO, your opinions are worthless. You're just looking to stir **** up. As I said, your act is wearing thin.

I agree they are idiots and I already stated they should call the cops.

OP, I clicked on the article and the title is different from this thread. I do agree that the employees on duty at McDonald's be held responsible in the beating of a trans woman.

I know. Sloppy on my part, but I had to shorten the title. It would not fit.

 NICE!!! Man, I am green with jealous rage. Makes my 40D, kit lens, and 50 1.8 seem so, so pathetic.

Thanks. Sadly this all belongs to work, but it should team pretty well with my personal 550D.

The OP was ambiguous ... I read it that the weapons used on 9/11 were still not banned. As opposed to not banned at the time.

Hasn't anyone noticed that not a single US plane has been hijacked in the past 10 years? A quick look at Wikipedia shows 7 US planes hijacked in the 1970s, several in the 80s and 90s. Four planes were hijacked in 2001 (all on the same day....) - and then not a single US, European, Japanese plane has been hijacked.

    Something is working.....

When was the last time a European or Japanese plane were hijacked before 9/11? That's an ambiguous statistic. Nobody was hijacking planes before and nobody's hijacked planes since.

Nobody hijacks Israeli planes either, and they're subject to much more terrorist attention than we are.

In fact, TSA has twice failed to stop a bomber on a plane since 9/11. Both the shoe bomber and the underwear bomber were stopped by passengers.

TSA's measures aren't working, but a measure of common sense can easily mitigate the damage of someone smuggling a boxcutter or knife on to a plane.

No, smitty was correct. MS uses version numbers that identify it's code. It's how software devs can write code that decides whether the app should be allowed to install.

In a command prompt, use winver. Note the version listed
EG, Windows 95, NT 4, 98, and ME are all considered Windows 4.x. 2000 and XP are both 5.x, Vista and Windows 7 are 6.x. So it's clear 7 is nothing more than marketing.

    From the horses mouth: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/archive/b/windowsvista/archive/2008/10/14/why-7.aspx

Umm just going to point this out to but Windows 95, 98 and ME were all the windows 9.x kernel code.
Knight pointed out that what you are reading is just the gui version number. GUI is just a shell around the OS(aka eye candy). The kernel is what really matters and what is really accessed and controlled.
NT and beyond were on different version of NT.
Knight is the one is correct and he has proving he knows his stuff in that deparment.

Windows had 2 lines for the longest time the NT line (business for the most part) and the other one which has been known as the 9.x line.
Windows XP killed off the 9.x line and they went NT only.

Im loving the amout of sarcasm in this thread I was afraid it would not be picked up. This is a good update to the software and free is even better.

I do, however, think people are just tired of waiting for new macbook pros. Apple really does need to get on that update if they are going to justify charging $1999+ for the notebook.

They really seem to believe that everyone is naive.

As Apple themselves have pointed out, the number of displayed bars on a phone is often not very meaningful.

What's important, is how much dBm change occurs and especially whether or not the connection drops.

Getting back to the actual advertisement. What self-respecting advertising professional would use someone else's tagline like that.

I had a few friends watching the football game (where we saw the ad) and half of them thought it was an iphone commercial because they were only half paying attention and heard "there's a map for that".

Pretty shoddy work in my opinion.

Seems like it worked. Got a lot of people talking about it, razzing on AT&T and saying good for them (Verizon). On an Apple forum no less. Mission accomplished.

    Dude. I haven't once mentioned a ban.

These days I'd be satisfied with a hint of awareness.

Fair enough. It took your statement as referring to bans.

Frankly awareness, or more specifically education, is the only solution. Gun owners need more education, particularly those who arm themselves for home defense or concealed carry. If citizens are expected to demonstrate proficiency in driving a car before being allowed on the road - and further proficiency for special kinds of driving (such as racing licenses, commercial licenses, limousine drivers, police driving training etc etc), then gun owners should get considerably more training in self-defense with firearms. Most hunters agree that mandatory hunter-safety classes are a good idea. If that is the case, self-defense training is even more necessary.

Furthermore, the public at large needs to be more educated about laws, regulations and firearms themselves. Fear of firearms can be healthy. Willfull ignorance towards them, not so much.

Go ahead and opt out of your full-body scans... if you're doing it for the "health" reason you're tilting at a very small windmill.

The "Health" angle is murky, but TSA uses opt-out ratios as proof of acceptance. They've put out multiple press releases pushing >2% opt out rates as proof that people feel safer and don't mind the new security measures. So, I'm going to opt out every time, if for no other reason than to drive up the cost for them.

wow, you try to shut down a whole shop because they hurt your feelings?
Ever thought of the many people who depend on working there? What unbelievable egoism.

Well, to be fair I have no idea what happened but depending on what they did, it could be very unfair to say they just "hurt his feelings".

That being said, yeah, I think that poster is being a little delusional that they'd shut the whole store down over what he did.

At best Best Buy fires anyone involved that caused them to have to pay out some large fine and maybe any of the managers that were around at the time. But they aren't going to shut the store down over it. And that is how it should be, cause the whole store shouldn't suffer because of some really bad employees (but the bad employees should be gone).

Why would Apple logically develop a piece of software that uses the graphics card when I have four processors - many others have two - begging to be worked. I guess I never understood the logic of using Core Image to power this thing.

I think that's because you don't understand how CoreImage is meant to work (I'm not saying how it does work for you). When you write an ImageUnit to run in CoreImage you are not targeting a particular processor at all (be that CPU, GPU or some future co-processor). You write your code in a special language and it gets compiled into a kind of 50% compiled code. CoreImage will then run this on the GPU or any of the available CPUs using whichever it thinks will be fastest at that time.

You can read about it here (http://developer.apple.com/macosx/coreimage.html), see Parallel Execution around half way down.

I am perfectly happy with the iPhone 4 I have.

BTW, what is that extra little rectangle above the speaker? My phone doesn't have that.

It does, you cant see it.

It is a secret location tracker

TechFlash noted (http://www.techflash.com/seattle/2009/10/verizon_goes_right_after_att_with_new_ad_campaign.html) yesterday that Verizon is rolling out a new advertising campaign targeting AT&T's network by focusing on the geographic coverage of the competing companies' networks. The campaign also employs a twist on Apple's "There's an app for that" iPhone slogan with its own tagline of "There's a map for that."The fine print also is worth checking out. It reads: "Browse the Web and download music and apps, at 3G speed, in five times more places than the nation's number two wireless carrier. Before you pick a phone, pick a network."A television commercial featuring the new campaign also debuted yesterday.
