Prithviraj’s Thriller creates record!

Prithviraj’s B Unnikrishnan directed Thriller has created a new record even before release.

The satellite rights of the film have been snapped up by a television channel for Rs 1.45 Crore, the highest ever for a solo Prithviraj film!

Manorama News is going to start a GEC (general entertainment channel) which will have popular programming of serials, game shows and new films.

They are now aggressively procuring film content for the channel and has brought Thriller rights from its producer Sabu Cherian.

Normally a Prithviraj solo film used to fetch only Rs 75 to 85 lakhs as television rights. But Thriller went for a record price mainly due to Prithviraj’s new found star status and also it is an action packed entertainer.

Plus a new player in film procurement has raised the satellite price of all new Malayalam films.

It is more bad news for M & M, as their big films television rights are now selling at Rs 1.50 to Rs 2 crore. Remember the market leaders Asianet and Surya have put a cap, that prices should not exceed Rs 2 Crore. Prithviraj is now almost near M & M in the television rights rating game.
